The outgoing chairman of Alaba International Market (Electronics Section), Chief Celestine Ezeani has lauded Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola for his quick intervention in the security challenges of the market.
Ezeani gave the commendation during the recent inauguration of a new executive committee of the market during which he gave account of his stewardship.
He explained that his executive had alerted the state government through the commandant of of the state’s crime-busting outfit, Rapid Response Squad, RRS, on the need to beef up security in the market after a robbery incident. Promptly, the governor provided armoured cars that help to battle the robbers and stopped the incessant robbery attacks on the market.
He recounted as part of his achievements in office, as mounting of surveillance cameras round the entire market, distribution of mobile toilets around the entire market, interlocking of the garage and building a podium swell as constructing 24 shops, which the traders won through raffle draw.
Ezeani advised the traders to shun acts capable of plunging the market into any crisis, adding that doing so would distract them from their purpose of coming to the market.
The newly inaugurated officers included: Uchenna Nnadozie -Executive Chairman; Clifford Okoye – 1st vice Chairman; Chukwuka Ihekaire – 2nd Vice Chairman; Lawrence Umeiheukwu – Secretary; Eduzor Jideofor – Assistant Secretary; Chike Utuagbaigwe – Financial Secretary; Ikechukwu Onwuka – Treasurer; Eugene Obiezu – P.R.O; Uche Oguike – Chief Provost and Chinedu Ononuju – Assistant Provost.
