Phil Collins has called Adele a “slippery little fish” after she never got back to him about to him about a piece of music she’d asked him to finish.

Mum-of-one Adele asked the legendary singer if he would write with her, but then things went quiet. Speaking to Q magazine, Phil joked: “She’s a slippery little fish is Adele.”

He continued: “She got hold of me and asked if I would write with her. She gave me a piece of music to finish and at first I didn’t know if  I’d failed the audition as I didn’t hear back from her.

“Then she said, ‘No, no, I’m moving house and the baby’s taking up a lot of my time, I’m not actually doing anything at the moment.’ And now I’ve heard there’s a 29 coming out. I’m not on it, I know that.

But Phil shouldn’t feel too down in the dumps about it – other musicians who the singer has collaborated with on her upcoming album are also counting down the days, but only to find out if their tracks have made the cut.
